Going On Now!

Fair on a Budget

The 2010 New York State Fair is an incredibly affordable entertainment option for your family. Here's why...

  • Free Kids' Admission!

All children 12 and under get in FREE - every single day!

  • Unlimited Rides for One Price!

Kids can enjoy their favorite rides again and again and again without breaking the family budget. On six of the Fair's 12 days you can buy $25 wristbands that give you full access to the James E. Strates Shows Midway for the entire day. Pay-one-price wristbands are available on Aug. 26, Aug. 27, Aug. 30, Aug. 31, Sept. 1 and Sept. 2. Please note that some rides may be unavailable until noon on opening day.

  • Special Days!

Are you a veteran or a senior citizen? If so, on certain days you can get in free! Seniors age 60 and older pay no admission on Aug. 30 and Aug. 31. Veterans and active-duty personnel with military ID get in free on Sept. 2. So do youths age 16 and younger on Student Day and Native Americans on Native American Day. Both days are recognized on Sept. 3. Visit our 2010 Fair Special Days page for more details.

  • Coupon Savings!

The State Fair's Daily Insider's Guide & Daily Deals, available at the entrance gates, is stuffed with money-saving coupons from Fair vendors. Don't forget to pick your copy up at one of the Fair's information booths - it does a lot more than tell you what's going on!

  • Food Deals!

You can still get a delicious, ice-cold cup of fresh milk for only 25 cents at the Rainbow Milk Bar and a steaming baked spud for only $1 at the Potato Booth. And those are only two of the great deals you can find among the Fair's hundreds of food vendors.

  • Picnic Space!

The Fair has expanded the space available for picnicking around Chevy Court. Families can bring a cold lunch or dinner (but not their own alcohol), and eat outdoors under our new picnic umbrellas.

  • Travel Savings!

Avoid the $5 parking fee, and save a little gas, by leaving your vehicle in one of the special Centro bus lots set up for the Fair and take a bus to the main gate. You can also skip the driving altogether and take a train from your community. Amtrak has a stop right at the Fair! Call 1-200-USA-RAIL or visit amtrak.com for details.

  • Free Concerts!

Enjoy 24 different national performers - including Lady Antebellum, the hottest act in country music - on the Chevy Court stage for FREE. The Fair wants to make Chevy Court the best free concert venue in the country, and this year it's getting some help from Kool & the Gang, Styx, Blues Traveler, Keith Sweat, Kansas and many others.

  • Free Attractions!

Once you walk through the gate, you'll have access to hundreds of fascinating exhibits, thrilling shows and old-fashioned fun - at no extra charge! Where else will your family get a chance to watch an egg hatch, wander through an art exhibit, walk a llama and marvel at both a miniature circus and a giant sand sculpture? You can pet a giraffe, gasp at a high diver, learn about protecting the environment and fill a bag with free samples. And none of it requires reaching for your wallet. Visit our Fair Attractions & Events page for more details.

  • An Inexpensive Vacation!

A visit to the Fair could be the centerpiece of a weekend - or a week - enjoying beautiful Central New York. There are hundreds of entertainment, recreation, tourism and shopping options nearby. It's an affordable alternative to traveling out of state for your family's summer vacation. Visit the Syracuse Convention & Visitors Bureau web site to see what we mean.

  • Grandstand Benefit

Unlike the ticketed concerts at many state fairs, admission to the New York State Fair on the day of the show is included with the purchase of a grandstand concert ticket. Visit our State Fair Grandstand page for more concert details.
