2009-09-04
Jean Chatzky, a bestselling author and financial expert for NBC's "Today Show", will share her thoughts on prospering in an economic recession during two appearances Friday at the New York State Fair.
Ms. Chatzky will talk about personal finance, including the importance of saving for college education, at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m. in the Art & Home Center's New Times Theatre. Her first appearance will be broadcast live on the big screen at Chevy Court.
Both appearances are FREE with Fair admission.
"We worked hard to keep the Fair affordable this year because we wanted to help families who were struggling during these difficult financial times," State Fair Director Dan O'Hara said. "Many of those families might benefit from Jean Chatzky's expert advice, and we urge anyone with financial questions to take advantage of her appearances."
Ms. Chatzky is a former business reporter for Working Woman, Money and Smart Money magazines and is a commentator for Oprah radio on the Sirius Satellite network. She has also written several books. Her latest is "The Difference. How Anyone can Prosper in Even the Toughest Times."
Ms. Chatzky's appearance is sponsored by New York's 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan. John Heywood, who oversees Vanguard's education savings group, is also available to speak about college savings planning. Vanguard is the investment manager for the plan.
