Westbound motorists urged to use Exit 6 from Route 690 for Fair parking

2009-09-05

Motorists traveling west on Interstate 690 to go to the New York State Fair this weekend are advised to bypass Exit 7 and use Exit 6 for quicker and easier access to State Fair parking.

With large numbers of people expected to attend the final weekend of the Fair, officials with the State Police and the state Department of Transportation, are urging westbound motorists to use Exit 6 to go to the Fair's Orange Parking Lot to avoid congestion and long lines.

The Orange Lot is served by Centro shuttle buses that typically run to the Fair's main entrance and back every 5 to 10 minutes. Because of that, most Fair visitors who park in the Orange Lot will spend less time walking than those who park in the lower lots served by Exit 7. Most of those people must walk across a pedestrian bridge to get to the Fair.

The Fair gates will open at 8 a.m. through Monday; the final days of the 2009 New York State Fair.
