Inside this tent, adjacent to the Toyota Coliseum, you can get up close to the horses that compete at the Fair. You’ll learn about these majestic animals through hands-on games and demonstrations of horse shoeing, grooming and fitting, as well as presentations from equestrian professionals, veterinarians, therapists and other specialists. You’ll be able to get all of your questions answered and discover what has drawn people and horses together for centuries. Click here for schedule of events.
Dairy Cow Birthing Center
Returning this year is an opportunity for fairgoers to witness first-hand the miracle of life daily by watching a dairy cow give birth to a calf. The New York Animal Agriculture Coalition and Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine are providing this opportunity for the public to learn more about animal agriculture, veterinary science and the birthing process. The exhibit is located next to the FFA Building near tram stop #8 and will be open from 10:00am-10:00pm (9:00pm on Labor Day).
Take a break from the crowds in air-conditioned comfort where you can get a chance to talk to representatives from a variety of New York wineries. Listen while they discuss the differences between white grapes and red grapes. Find out what are the best wines to be served with certain entrees. Sample different varieties and learn the best ways to enjoy the full nuances of wine. There will be demonstrations on making homemade wine as well as homemade brew. Be sure to check our daily schedules posted in early August for more details. Held in the Horticulture Building daily at 2:30pm and 5:30pm - limited space availability.
Take a walk through this exhibit and view pictures and memorabilia from past fairs and see for yourself how the Fair has changed and grown over the past 175 years. Watch a short video clip of the 1969 State Fair and see clay models of the butter sculpture going back to 2004. Look over a scale model of the whole fairgrounds and follow time lines of important events, entertainment and agriculture that have been part of the New York State Fair. Don’t miss the exhibits on the 4-H, FFA, Iroquois Indian Village and the NY State Troopers to name a few.
You will also have an opportunity to purchase old posters, pins and other memorabilia of the New York State Fair as well as our new Blue Ribbon recipe book and Best Bet Bargain Book at the new souvenir shop. Located in the Grange Building, open daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm (9:00pm on Labor Day).
